Openness
(collaboration with Kristina Gerard)
Located in the south-east portion of Columbus' urban core, this project was purely an exploration of architectural openness, used as a leit motif to drive decisions ranging from materiality to unit configuration to aperture, to name a few.
Performed in a studio environment with each group exploring a particular theme, each aggregation of 10-12 units was meant to use its theme as a means to project a particular type of urban inhabitation, each with its own potential market base and unique amenities.
In the end, openness was defined through a series of dichotomies and outre conditions, the main amenity of which became a range of exterior patio type spaces serving as a respite to typical urban pressures.
